The (Almost) Fastest Man On The Planet Wears goodrs

Shaun Frandsen Interview

Okay, okay, so he may not be the fastest man on the planet (we all know about The Flash, right?), but runner Shaun Frandsen currently holds the very official, globally recognized, super scientific, goodr record for Fastest Known Time (FKT) during a race while rockin’ a pair of goodrs.

We spoke to Shaun and begged him to tell us the magical secret sauce for running faster while looking goodr.

1

What has been your fastest race and tell us a bit about it.

I ran my personal best marathon on December 3rd, 2017 at California International Marathon. I broke the 2:30 barrier for the first time in my career (2:28:47) and placed 3rd overall as a master. Yep, I ran my fastest time at age 40 and I feel like I’m just starting to peak.

2

What is your favorite color of goodr?

There’s so many great colors (and titles!). I’d have to say my go-to color is “Iced by Yetis.” The white frame with the blue lens goes with everything.

3

What is your spirit animal?

Probably a lion. I lead with my heart.

4

What are your top 3 tips for someone wanting to run faster or run a marathon?

1) Be patient
2) Be confident
3) Don’t overdo it
That would be my advice for targeting the marathon distance. If you want to run faster channel your inner Yuki Kawauchi and race yourself into shape.

5

What is your most disgusting/ridiculous/surprising running story?

I was hit by a car coming out of a driveway. I did one of those Dukes of Hazard slides across the hood and kept running during a 15 mile race and still won it. Another time, I was almost hit by a car at a road crossing during a marathon. I won the Seattle Marathon with icicles in my beard made from snot rockets and missing with water cups. I guess that’s kind of disgusting right?

6

If you could race any person, who would it be and why?

I’d like to go back in time and race my older brother when he was at his peak. You know, so we can talk about it.

7

Tell us about your last race?

My last race was the 2018 Boston Marathon or the Greater Boston Swimming Monsoon Marathon of 2018. I’ll be telling my grandchildren about that race. I still did well despite the brutal conditions (placing 2nd overall as a master). In fact, I don’t know if I would have placed as high on the podium if not for the freakish weather conditions shaking up the entire elite field. Who knows? I’ll be there next year to find out.

8

If you could have any animal shrunken down to the size of a cat, what would it be?

Totally a lion.

9

What is your next race and what pair of goodrs will you be wearing?

2018 Chicago Marathon in October. If it’s warm and sunny I’ll wear “Iced by Yetis” because I wear them all the time training. If it’s cool and overcast I’ll wear “Orange You Glad We Didn’t Say Banana?” because they’re good for low-light conditions, and orange is awesome and matches my club singlet… and shoes. I get matchy!
